PharmaConex was founded in 2007 by Paolo Iacovelli, a registered Pharmacist. What began as a locum agency to fill an industry gap, quickly grew to offer a more holistic recruitment service.
Described as ‘approachable, responsive and dedicated’, our team provide a fully personalised service. We are proud of the strong relationships we have built within the sector and believe these relationships are founded on the basis of a consistent and reliable service.

Meet Our Team
Laura Romero
Managing Director
Laura graduated in Pharmacy at Universidad Complutense of Madrid in 2006. She also achieved a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2023. She became a fully registered pharmacist in Ireland nearly 20 years ago and worked in both Community and Hospital settings for many years. Along with her late husband Paolo Iacovelli, she founded PharmaConex , and has been growing the business ever since
Stephen Duggan
General Manager
Stephen joined the Pharmaconex team in early 2023. As General Manager, he oversees the daily operations of the business. He has strong leadership and decision-making skills to guide and oversee various aspects of the company. Stephen is a fully qualified Chartered Accountant and has come from a background in the wider retail sector (with specific experience in retail pharmacy), private healthcare sector, auditing and the private health insurance industry.
Manuela Cavaliere
Head of Business Strategy
Manuela is the Head of Business Strategy. She joined the Pharmaconex team in 2017 looking after the technician booking first, then pharmacists booking and overseas recruitment. Manuela has the ability to build relationships and stands out for her adaptability to changing recruitment trends.
She is proactive, possesses excellent problem-solving skills and always stays updated on industry developments.
Rita Cavaliere
Locum Team Manager
Rita joined PharmaConex in 2022 as a Locum Co-Ordinator. She comes with a wide range of Pharmacy experience, having worked as a technician for 5 years in the Community Pharmacy. Therefore, she has a strong knowledge of the pharmacy system in Ireland. She is determined and very thorough in her work and believes that working towards the same goals is the best way to achieve success.
Jack Callan
Account Manager
Jack joined the Pharmaconex Team in 2021, having worked in the pharmaceutical sector for over nine years. He comes with a wealth of pharmacy experience as he worked previously as a pharmacy technician and as an Operations Manager. Jack has strong communication and organisational skills and is always on hand to help both clients and candidates. During his time in Pharmaconex Jack has established excellent working relationships with all the leading Pharmacy Chains.
Hannah Kellett
Account Manager
Hannah joined Pharmaconex in 2022 as a Locum Coordinator having previously worked in Community Pharmacy for approximately 6 years. Throughout her time in pharmacy, she gained a lot of people skills and valuable knowledge that is now transferring to her role in PharmaConex. She prides herself on her work ethic and her positive attitude is contributing to create and maintain strong relationship with both clients and pharmacists.
Jennifer O’Neill
Account Manager
Jennifer joined the Pharmaconex team in 2023, coming from a background in healthcare and Human Resources. Jennifer along with the coordinating team is responsible for liaising with both Locums and clients to fulfil the needs of the client’s business. She possesses strong organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and attention to detail to manage the scheduling and placement of Locums.
Chandrakanth Sangewar
Locum Co Ordinator
Chandra joined the Pharmaconex Team in 2021. He comes with a vast background in the Pharmacy & Sales Industries. Chandra has worked as an executive expanding a business across Europe and has also spent three years in the pharmaceutical wholesale and distribution sector. His main task is to work alongside our clients and locum pharmacists to fill vacant bookings and deal with any queries they may have in a timely manner.
Leah Salinger
Locum Co Ordinator
Leah has started her career with PharmaConex in 2023 coming from a background of healthcare co-ordination/Planning & Pharmacy retail. Leah is a Locum Coordinator and deals with locums on a daily basis to accommodate them to the shifts most suited and general queries they may have. She has strong problem-solving skills which allows her to resolve any issues that may arise during locum placements. Leah is a very enthusiastic person and brings positive energy to everyone.
Loredana Vitale
Permanent Recruitment Specialist
Loredana joined the Pharmaconex team in 2022, coming from a background in Communication, Recruitment, HR and Learning & Development working in different industries with Irish and International companies. She looks after all aspects of the permanent recruitment of the Pharmacy Industry. She possesses a customer-centric approach, treating both candidates and clients with professionalism and respect.
Sylwia Hanf
Permanent Recruitment Specialist
Sylwia joined the Pharmaconex team in 2023, coming from a background in sales/pharmacy management with over 15 years. Her knowledge is invaluable to all aspects of the permanent recruitment in the Pharmacy Sector. Sylvia has strong networking abilities that aid in establishing connections within the pharmacy community. She always stays updated on pharmacy trends and enhances her ability to match candidates with suitable opportunities.
Stuart Brown
Payroll and Accounts Manager
Stuart joined the Pharmaconex team in 2012. Prior to this he had 15 years of experience in retail management. He looks after all aspects of payroll for locums, both those being paid through the Pharmaconex payroll and those working as contractors. Stuart has been a fully qualified Accounting Technician since 2016 and oversees all aspects of Pharmaconex’s invoicing and accounts departments.
Salvatore Bevilacqua
IT Executive
Salvatore joined Pharmaconex in 2021. After graduating as a software developer, he started with us in the role of IT Supporter. He is looking after the maintenance and management of our computer systems and always available to sort out any possible issue we might have from software to hardware. Salvatore is always looking at new solutions to improve and implement our communication to guarantee a high standard level for both team and customers.
